You didn’t REALLY think that Santa and his tiny reindeer delivered all of those presents around the world on Christmas Eve by themselves, did you? Here’s the true story of how all those wonderful gifts get to your home…
Santa and his elves were getting ready for Christmas Eve when they realized that they needed help to deliver all of the presents they made that year. The stacks of toys, dolls and i-phones reached to the top of the workshop and were spilling out of the doors.
Mike Maloney St. Nick’s lead elf, looked at Santa and said, “We need some help…and we need it quick.” Everyone in the workshop and some from the office got into the discussion. Who did they know who could fly and help them deliver presents? Elmo from the billing office suggested Jack from Nightmare Before Christmas. Nah, they all decided, that wasn’t a good idea. Maybe Glenda the Good Witch in the Land of Oz? Nah, she was too busy granting wishes at Christmas. Mothra, the giant Japanese Moth who is known as a savior of children? Nope. She is busy saving children around the world.
Then one elf remembered that he had gone to summer camp when he was just a little elf. Everyone knows that summer camp directors don’t have anything to do the rest of the year and they REALLY like to make children happy. Maybe they could help. Yep, everyone agreed, that was good idea!
So, with the help of some camp directors and their camp staffs, they started the Magic Unicorn project for all the boys and girls. Camp Directors from across the nation joined the project to deliver Santa’s toys to ALL boys and girls—even the “naughty” ones. But wait a minute, camp directors had no sleigh AND THEY COULDN’T FLY.
Recognizing a problem, Santa told the camp directors that if they could provide sleighs, he would do the magic to make the them fly. Cool, huh?! The Camp Directors were stumped but only for a minute or two. After all, they solve problems ALL SUMMER LONG. It is one of the reasons they get picked to be camp directors! They said, “We have lots of things we can use as sleighs.”.
They begin pulling out canoes, kayaks, rowboats and sailboats. They showed up in their camp pickup trucks and golf carts. One camp donated a huge parachute! Santa sprinkled everything with magic bug juice and next thing you knew everything was floating!
After some quick certification in sleigh driving and a little training in proper Christmas Eve etiquette—always eat the cookies and milk—everyone was ready to go.
Oh no! Who was going to pull the camp sleighs? Magic Unicorns, of course. There was a short delay while camp directors rigged a harness just the right size for a Magic Unicorn. Now everyone was ready to go!
Presents disappeared fast as the camp directors loaded up and headed out. All the presents were delivered just in time for the camp directors to spend Christmas with their own families.
